ATA Advisory Board Profile: Tori Moreland

Austin Tech Alliance consults and relies on our Advisory Board for their expertise and feedback on our programs and strategy. This week we’ll learn about ATA Advisory Board Member, Tori Moreland, Founder of Moreland Consulting

Why did you decide to join the ATA Advisory Board?

I decided to join the ATA Advisory Board because I recognize the importance of uniting our growing tech sector to organize around important local issues. I believe the tech community here in Austin has extraordinary potential to rise to the challenge and collaboratively solve real-world problems that benefit the greater good. I believe the future of governance and policymaking is tech-driven. That future is near – and bright.

What is your favorite thing(s) about being a part of ATA?

Being a part of ATA, I get to combine my two favorite things: rapidly-evolving technology and grassroots activism!

Why is it important for the tech community to be civically engaged?

No doubt our city has fostered an unusually talented and passionate tech community. But this community doesn’t have a culture of engaging with local policymakers or building influence where it matters. We’re working to change that. With so many paradigms in flux, it’s important now more than ever that the tech community influences the future of governance, social impact, mutual aid, civic engagement, and even our very democracy.
