Are You Ready for the Austin Council District 4 Special Election?

It’s the new year and today, January 10th is the first day of early voting for Austin’s special election for District 4 residents! No worries if you’re not caught up on the issues though. Early voting runs through Friday, January 14th and Election Day will be on Tuesday, January 25th.

What’s this Austin special election about?

Former Council Member, Greg Casar has stepped down to run his campaign to represent Texas’ 35th congressional district. Council members help to make important decisions regarding the district they cover and work with other council members and City leadership to govern the city. Seven candidates are running for the District 4 spot.

Are you eligible to vote in this special election?

This special election is for residents of Council District 4. While the date for registering to vote for this election has already passed, you can check your registration status on votetexas.gov.
You can check to see if you’re in District 4 by checking the council district map on the City of Austin’s website. District 4 recently had some changes when the new district maps were drawn. Despite this, the old district maps will be used (Austin Monitor) for this election.
