ATA Advisory Board Profile: Matt Glazer

Austin Tech Alliance consults and relies on our Advisory Board for their expertise and feedback on our programs and strategy. This week we’ll learn about ATA Advisory Board Member, Matt Glazer. Matt is the Co-Founder of Blue Sky Partners and a Senior Consultant at Mission Capital.

Why did you decide to join the ATA Advisory Board?

To make an impact in Austin. The status quo is not good enough. We need to make changes in our community. Whether that is through business, innovation, or civics, change is essential. At many stages of my life I’ve gone back to the Elie Wiesel quote, “Human suffering anywhere concerns men and women everywhere” but it misses a crucial element. James Baldwin said, “not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” When we engage as a broader community, and we do it together, we face the opportunity to make change. When we invite others, that is when we march toward progress. No person can do it alone, and change is not possible until one person starts doing the work.

What is your favorite thing(s) about being a part of ATA?

This community can accomplish an incredible amount in a short amount of time.

Why is it important for the tech community to be civically engaged?

Our issues are unique and important. I want our local leaders to take them seriously. I want public policy to reflect our needs. The only way to do that is to vote, be organized, and be heard.
